16) Power Lines — An outside antenna system should not be located in
the vicinity of overhead power lines or other electric light or power circuits,
or where it can fall into such power lines or circuits. When installing an
outside antenna system, extreme care should be taken to keep from touch-
ing such power lines or circuits as contact with them might be fatal.
17) Overloading — Do not overload wall outlets, extension cords, or
integral convenience receptacles as this can result in risk of fire or electric
shock.
18) Object and Liquid Entry — Never push objects of any kind into
this product through openings as they may touch dangerous voltage points
or short-out parts that could result in a fire or electric shock. Never spill
liquid of any kind on the product.
19) Servicing — Do not attempt to service this product yourself as open-
ing or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltage or other
hazards. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
20) Damage Requiring Service — Unplug this product from the wall
outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the following
conditions:
a) when the power-supply cord or plug is damaged.
b) if liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen into the product.
c) if the product has been exposed to rain or water.
d) if the product does not operate normally by following the operating
instructions. Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating
instructions as an improper adjustment of other controls may result in
damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to
restore the product to its normal operation.
e) if the product has been dropped or damaged in any way.
f ) when the product exhibits a distinct change in performance – this
indicates a need for service.
21) Replacement Parts — When replacement parts are required, be
sure the service technician has used replacement parts specified by the
manufacturer or have the same characteristics as the original part.
Unauthorized substitutions may result in fire, electric shock, or other
hazards.

product, ask the service technician to perform safety checks to determine
that the product is in proper operating condition.
10) Ventilation — Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for ven-
tilation and to ensure reliable operation of the product and to protect it
from overheating, and these openings must not be blocked or covered. The
openings should never be blocked by placing the product on a bed, sofa,
rug, or other similar surface. This product should not be placed in a built-in
installation such as a bookcase or rack unless proper ventilation is provided
or the manufacturer’s instructions have been adhered to.
11) Power Sources — This product should be operated only from the
type of power source indicated on the marking label. If you are not sure of
the type of power supply to your home, consult your product dealer or local
power company. For products intended to operate from battery power, or
other sources, refer to the operating instructions.
12) Grounding or Polarization — This product may be equipped with
a polarized alternating-current line plug (a plug having one blade wider
than the other). This plug will fit into the power outlet only one way. This
is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet,
try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact your electri-
cian to replace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the
polarized plug.
13) Power-Cord Protection — Power-supply cords should be routed so
that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or
against them, paying particular attention to cords at plugs, convenience
receptacles, and the point where they exit from the product.
14) Outdoor Antenna Grounding — If an outside antenna or cable
system is connected to the product, be sure the antenna or cable system is
grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage surges and built-
up static charges. Article 810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA
70, provides information with regard to proper grounding of the mast and
supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge
unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna-discharge unit, con-
nection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding elec-
trode.
23) Wall or Ceiling Mounting — The product should be mounted to a
wall or ceiling only as recommended by the manufacturer.
24) Heat — The product should be situated away from heat sources such
as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other products (including amplifiers)
that produce heat.

seconds).
• Two high-quality precision CD decks in a single
rack-mountable unit.
• Timer play for deck 1 followed by deck 2.
• Relay play allows consecutive playback using both
decks (as one deck stops, the other can be set to
start automatically).
• RCA unbalanced outputs for each deck
• Dedicated per-deck remote control units
(detachable and rack-mountable)
• Sleep function (automatic shutdown of the deck
after 30 minutes of inactivity)
• 10 seconds of anti-shock memory per deck.
• Instant start
• Tray auto close function can close the tray auto-
matically one minute after the tray is opened
• Large jog dial for frame-accurate cue point search-
ing
• Incremental play
• Event start
• Selectable tempo and key control range : ±8%,
±16%, or ±32% (or disabled).
• Fader start
• Key control function allows changing key without
affecting the original tempo
1.2 Environmental conditions
• Key control mode in percentage or semitone steps
• Original Key function allows tempo change while
maintaining the original key
The TASCAM CD-302 may be used in most areas,
but to maintain top performance, and prolong operat-
ing life, observe the following environmental
conditions:
• Pitch control to change both tempo and key
• 100 mm tempo slider
• 10 seconds’ sampling function (per deck)
• 3-way loop functions: A-B, SINGLE, and ALL
• Seamless loop function in A-B loop
The nominal temperature should be between 5˚C and
35˚C (41˚F and 95˚F).
Relative humidity should be 30 to 90 degrees non-
condensing.
• Automatic BPM (beats per minute) count function
and BPM counter
Make sure that the drive unit is mounted in a level
position for correct operation.
• Tempo sync between the decks
• Beat sync between the decks
The units should be mounted, using the supplied rack
mounting kits. A typical configuration is shown
below, but other configurations are possible:
• TAP function for manual BPM settings
• Bend function allows adjusting of beats manually
between the two decks
• Brake function allows braking in exactly the same
way as on a record turntable
• Scratch function allows scratch play
• Voice Reduce function lowers the level of the vocal
part
• Up to 1,000 track memories. Tracks can be memo-
rized in 5 banks (200 tracks each, Bank A to E)
• Up to 24 parameters can be set as user-definable
memory functions (various settings)
• Output level control in the digital domain (±6 dB,
in 1.0 dB steps).
• Selectable Elapsed and Song Remain time display
• Continuous play
NOTE
• Single play
If the disc trays are more than 5 degrees away from
the horizontal, they will not open or close.
• Program play
• Auto cue function (–72, –66, –60, –54, or –35 dB)
TASCAM CD-302 7
1 • Before you start—Backup memory
• Wipe in a straight motion from the inside to the
1.2.1 Beware of condensation
outside of the disc. Small dust particles and light
stains will have absolutely no effect on reproduc-
tion quality.
If the player (or a compact disc) is moved from a
cold to a warm place, or used after a sudden tempera-
ture change, there is a danger of condensation; vapor
in the air could condense on the internal mechanism,
making correct operation impossible. To prevent this,
or if this occurs, leave the player for one or two hours
with the power turned on, then turn the power off and
on again.
• Never use such chemicals as record sprays, anti-
static sprays or fluid, benzine or thinner to clean
compact discs. Such chemicals will do irreparable
damage to the disc’s plastic surface.
• Discs should be returned to their cases after use to
avoid serious scratches that could cause the laser
pickup to “skip”.
1.2.2 Never use a stabilizer
The TASCAM CD-302 has a stabilizer disc built into
its drive mechanisms. Using commercially available
CD stabilizers with this player will damage the
mechanisms and cause them to malfunction.
• Don’t expose discs to direct sunlight or high
humidity and temperature for extended periods.
Long exposure to high temperature can warp the
disc.
• Only use circular compact discs. Avoid using non-
circular promotional, etc. discs.
NOTE
Never use a disc that has had a stabilizer mounted to
it. The residual adhesive may cause the disc to stick
to the mechanism of the TASCAM CD-302. If it sticks
to the mechanism, you will need a technician to get it
out.
• To keep the laser pickups clean, don’t touch them.
For the same reason, don’t leave the disc trays open
unnecessarily.
1.2.3 Handling of discs
The unit has been designed specifically for reproduc-
tion of discs bearing the

mark. No other discs
1.3 Backup memory
Observe the following:
• Always place the compact discs in the trays with
their label facing upward (compact discs can only
be played on one side).
Each time you turn off the power, the status of the
following features are stored into back up memory.
• Playback mode (Continue, Single, Program)
• Time mode (Elapsed, remain)
• Preset functions
• To remove a disc from its storage case, press down
on the center of the case, and lift the disc out, hold-
ing it carefully by the edges.
• Contents of Program
• BANKs A through E
• TEMPO key ((%, 16%, 32%)
• INDEX (on/off)
• LOOP (on/off)
• Finger marks and dust should be carefully wiped
off the disc’s recorded surface with a soft cloth.
Unlike conventional records, the compact disc has
no grooves to collect dust and microscopic debris,
so gently wiping with a soft cloth should remove
most particles.
1.4 Anti-shock memory
The CD-302 provides 10 seconds’ worth of anti-
shock memory for each deck.
1.5 Instant start
The CD-302 will start playing from pause mode
immediately when the PLAY key is pressed, due to
the antishock memory function.
